Picture Documentation for doll making web site:
First, collect the following tools and supplies:
Supply list:
- Preassembled plastic 20"-22" tall 1/4" diameter Loc-Line type
link armature for dolls. Available through CR's Craft Bear and Doll
Supply Catalog website.
- An extra armature for spare parts, or some extra links
purchased in bulk.
- Special plastic or metal armature pliers. Also from CR's
Crafts.
- A "+" shoulder connector. It needs to be ordered separately. (
Not a "T". This is important.)
- Hollow vinyl doll hands and feet. You can cut them off a cheap
doll of the right size and color, or you can order an American
Girl- sized Springfield doll kit on Ebay.Do choose a doll with feet
that will fit some of the shoes you have. These instructions will
not accomodate spare BJD hands (yet!), unfortunately.
- Sharp scissors.
- Needlenose pliers.
- A Dremel, metal file or sturdy coarse sandpaper.
- Two-part epoxy putty, like Apoxie, Gapoxio, or plumbers'
putty.
- Polyester or cotton quilt batting.
- Tacky glue.
- Button thread and strong sewing needle.
- 1 yard light colored non-ravel fabric like felt, suede-cloth ,
robe velour. Only slight stretch.
- Straight pins
- 1 yard beige-y or peachy polyester suedecloth or alova suede.
One side shiny, one side fuzzy.
- 1 yard stretchy fabric like panne velour for the final
bodystocking. Choose a flesh-tone or any color which harmonizes
with your doll's wardrobe.
- Lace to embellish.
- 1/8" wide elastic.
- A small "S" hook.
- Resin BJD doll head! Instructions for using a vinyl Obitsu head
at the end of tutorial.
- Note: A sewing machine is recommended but not necessary for the
final stitching of the bodystocking. Otherwise, all steps can be
sewn by hand.
