Tutorial Steps:
Step 21
Use a little tacky glue to anchor one end of the batting to the
armature.

Step 22
Wind
the strip of batting all the way up the limbs like you were
wrapping a mummy.

Step 23
In
this way, cover all the limbs and torso with one layer of
batting.

Step 24
With
a needle and thread, take a lot of random stitches all over the
batting to stabilize it and
secure it to itself.

Step 25
Use
extra-strong button thread and a large strong needle for all
hand-stitching on the figure. I've used contrasting thread for the
demo, but otherwise use matching thread.

Step 26
You
can see that the stitches are large and random.

Step 27
Wind
more batting around the torso until you build up the chest, hips,
and waist. Once it's the shape you want, take big anchoring
stitches all over the torso too.

Step 28
Cut
a strip of non-ravel fabric (felt, robe velour,suede-cloth) and
start to wrap the limbs like a mummy, as you did before, but very
tightly this time.

Step 29
Taking a stitch or two in the fabric strip (sewing it to itself
or to the underlying batting) will help anchor the end as you pull
and wrap tightly.

Step 30
Continue cutting strips and wrapping until the whole figure is
mummy-wrapped.
